For most of our coldbox cores, we use a phenolic alkaline resin instead of an amine cured phenolic process (Isocure) due to the long core shelf life and the improved impact on the environment. Our coremakers are very familiar with this process and create a range of cores to meet customer needs. Betaset is a good process for cores of any size, from small intricate ones to very large heavy ones. It can be used with many different alloys and can help overall casting quality.

Carbophen

There are times that Betaset is not a viable choice for our customers. We do have an alternate process called Carbophen. It

is a phenol modified sodium silicate, more similar to sodium silicate product.

Carbophen is a single component binder that is cured with CO2. It is a hybrid between classic organic and new

inorganic binder systems. These cores are used in steel, gray, & aluminum foundries.
